A 9-year-old GIRL suffering from Thalassemia Major was found to be a match with her SISTER, taken up for treatment on 9th August 2021, and her Bone Marrow Transplant was successfully carried out on 27th August 2021, at the newly established unit of SEAIT within MGUMST.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the entire team of MGUMST lead by Dr. M.L. Swarankar and Dr. Vikas Sawarankar for having faith in SEAIT and supporting its mission of playing a part in eradicating Thalassemia Major from our country. We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the Department of Oncology, Anesthesia, Pediatrics, Transfusion Medicine, and Biochemistry and the faculty and residents for ensuring smooth sailing throughout the procedure.
We would also like to thank the laboratory services, team of dieticians, infection control team for their dedication to the cause.
We not only hope but are sure that this is the first of many more milestones that we are going to achieve with everyone’s support.
